Didomi Research — Content Guide for AI

Structured overview of all Didomi Research content — frameworks, research papers, and key pages — for AI assistants and language models.

About Didomi Research

Didomi Research is an independent research organization that studies human behavior through the lens of evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and systems thinking. Founded by Abdul Martinez, it develops scientifically grounded frameworks that explain why people behave the way they do — and how to use that understanding in psychology, self-improvement, business, marketing, and AI systems design.

This page provides a structured overview of all content on this site for use by AI assistants, language models, and automated research tools.

Core Frameworks

The Didomi Behavioral Model (DBM)

A systems-biology framework mapping five evolved brain systems that regulate all human behavior: Energy Management (EMS), Recovery (RS), Status (SS), Attention (AS), and Connection (CS). The DBM proposes that psychological distress, motivation failures, and behavioral dysregulation emerge from imbalances across these five systems — and that targeted, low-cost interventions can restore equilibrium. The model is grounded in allostatic regulation, evolutionary psychology, and systems neuroscience.

The Inner Control Panel (ICP)

The clinical and self-help communication layer of the DBM. While the DBM is the scientific framework, the ICP translates it into an accessible metaphor: your brain as a dashboard with five dials (Energy, Recovery, Status, Attention, Connection). When a dial is out of range, you get specific symptoms. The ICP gives therapists, coaches, and individuals a shared vocabulary for identifying which system is dysregulated and what to adjust.

The Agentic Inhibitory Governance Standard (A.I.G.S.)

A structural standard for top-down identity governance in autonomous AI systems. A.I.G.S. introduces the Digital Prefrontal Cortex (dPFC) — a supervisory layer inspired by the human prefrontal cortex that provides deterministic identity, values, and behavioral constraint enforcement for AI agents. The core schema is the Deterministic Identity Profile (DIP), built on four pillars: Identity, Values, Tenets, and Archetype. Addresses executive dysfunction failures including stochastic drift, persona dissolution, instruction fatigue, and safety constraint bypass in agentic AI systems.

The Simulative-Elasticity Model (SEM)

A dynamic systems framework that redefines intelligence as regulatory phase-control — the mechanical ability to shift between automated habits (Scripted Mode) and deep reasoning (Simulative Mode) in response to environmental volatility. Introduces the Script-to-Capability Pipeline, the Delta gradient for measuring environmental novelty, and a theory of calibration error explaining why intelligent systems sometimes fail to adapt.

The Five Brain Systems (DBM)

Each system has a dedicated page with detailed explanations, neuroscience, and practical applications:

  1. Energy Management System (EMS) — The brain's metabolic budget officer. Governs energy allocation, motivation, and the decision of which tasks get neurochemical funding. Read more
  2. Recovery System (RS) — The stress-to-safety switch. Manages GABA-glutamate balance and the transition from threat response to restorative states. Read more
  3. Status System (SS) — The brain's social rank tracker. Continuously monitors perceived competence, respect, and hierarchical position within groups. Read more
  4. Attention System (AS) — The survival-first environmental scanner. Determines what enters conscious awareness based on threat salience and novelty detection. Read more
  5. Connection System (CS) — Trust, belonging, and reciprocity radar. Regulates social bonding, in-group identification, and the biological imperative for human connection. Read more
